The Philmont Amateur Radio Team wishes to thank all the following without whom we could not have presented opportunities in ham radio to Scouts at the Philmont Scout Ranch base camp.
Dale Finley, KB5NFT, created the Philmont Ham Team and has run it for over a decade. He works tirelessly to create enthusiasm for ham radio in Scouting. Dale is incredible at acquiring donations of equipment and materials to enhance the Philmont demonstrations. Without Dale, none of this would have been possible. Dales ham call phonetically is Kilo Bravo Five November Foxtrot Tango. We think it should be Kilo Bravo Five No Finer Texan.
Jim Rinehart, K9RU, donated time, effort, and countless pieces of equipment to make the satellite station possible. Jim is a technical tour-de-force when it comes to figuring out why a piece of equipment is not working.
Steve Van Frank, W9TN, wrote a custom program to make logging our satellite contacts across multiple grids much easier.
The Staff at the Philmont Scout Ranch – especially:
-
- Danny Tucker and Amanda Martinez who provided logistics to the Philmont Amateur Radio Team.
- Matt Hart who provided the site for our operations.
- Clinton Pedigo who provided internet and power for our operations.
- Luke Teske for storing our equipment every night.
ICOM America supports Scouting programs and has supplied equipment for our operations at the Philmont Scout Ranch.
We deeply appreciate all the Scouts and Scouters who took time from their busy time at Philmont to drop by our station on the porch of the Tooth of Time Traders to ask questions about ham radio. Questions keep us going.
